Among the panelist were chairman Thalassemia Ward Kutiyana Memon Hospital Yousuf Gadit, Thalassemians Welfare Organization chairman Jatin Kewlani.

FAiTh – Fight Against Thalassemia – A Patients & Parents Association conducted a Patients & Parents Session at Help Thalassemia Care Center Karachi on Saturday 23rd November 2019
We briefed them about how can they take better care of themselves, how they can maintain their hemoglobin and ferritin, about prevention, about FAiTh Patient Support Group, how can they spread awareness & how can they help themselves & thalassemia center regarding blood donations & iron chelation medicines.
President FAiTh Ayesha Mehmood shared her life experience with the patients & parents.
Help Thalassemia Care Center established in 2012 have approx. 225 registered patients, they are trying their best to provide safe blood transfusions to their patients with the help of donors & limited resources. They have developed a software to manage all their patients’ record, data, and profiles. Currently they don’t have their own blood bank, they receive blood for their registered patients from Dow University Hospital, Jinnah Hospital & Muhammadi Blood Bank. Their new building is under construction where they will have their own blood bank. They are offering thalassemia screening, blood transfusions & iron chelation to all their registered patients free of cost.
We cut the cake with the little fellows and distributed gifts among them.

On 3rd November 2019 FAiTh members attended Thal Olympiad event organized by Help International Welfare Trust.
It was indeed a great effort by Help Thalassemia Center for thalassemia fellows and their families.

On 26th October 2019 FAiTh members organized a One Dish Party at FAiTh Office Karachi. Such event / gatherings gives us a chance to sit together, forget everything and have some happy moments together.
FAiTh member Rehan Qadeer gave a motivational speech to the fellows, Rehan will be completing his studies for LLB in less than an year, he is thalassemia major, maintaining ferritin less than 300 mashaAllah. He is definitely an inspiration for all the thalassemia fellows. Thank you so much Rehan for your time and valuable advises, they will surely help a lot of fellows.
A community that gets together, stays together!
On FAiTh’s founder Salman Mehmood death anniversary 19th October 2019 we organized a heart to heart session with #thalassemia fellows. Where we discussed so many issues, stories related to thalassemia, treatment, life, education & work.
We discussed their solutions, motivated fellows to pursue their dreams, complete their education, focus more on their chelation and to asked them motivate other fellows to do the same.

Team FAiTh Uch Shareef / Bahawalpur organized a blood donation camp on 4th September 2019 at Al Shams Chowk Uch Sharif with Regional Blood Center Bahawalpur.
MashaAllah 88 blood donations were collected within few hours. We congratulate entire team for the successful blood drive camp and we are thankful to the amazing blood donors. You all are super heros 💪
FAiTh visited Regional Blood Center Bahawalpur on 27th June 2019. Regional Blood Centre Bahawalpur (RBC) Safe Blood Transfusion Programme. A development project of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW Development Bank.
RBC Bahawalpur was inaugurated in December 2017. It is situated inside Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital. FAiTh is thankful to Dr Col (R) Ali Nadeem, Zahid Qazi & all the staff of RBC for their hospitality & briefing us on our visit to RBC Bahawalpur, We were delighted to see the commitment of RBC team, their devotion, the hard work, standard, protocol which is being followed there. The similar standard / protocol should be followed in other blood banks / thalassemia centers too. Safe blood provision should be the top most priority of all blood banks & thalassemia centers like Regional Blood Banks.
The staff thoroughly briefed us about all the procedure, protocol, how an attendant arrive at RBC, what procedure they have to follow, they showed us all the steps involved in blood donation, screening, component making, storage & distribution.
Thalassemia patients in Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital now receives blood from RBC without any charges and without any donor, they are asked to provide donors but not forced.
Before RBC the hospital blood bank was unable to provide timely blood to thalassemia patients but after the formation of RBC thalassemia patients are having timely transfusions, they are getting proper screened blood as per their requirement.
RBC providing daily 50+ blood units to thalassemia patients and on Thursday they provide 100+ units. Till June 2019 they have provided more than 18 thousand blood units to thalassemia patients of Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital.

FAiTh – Fight Against Thalassemia – A Patients & Parents Association conducted Patients & Parents Session at Thalassemia Ward in Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital on Thursday 27th June 2019
The session was attended by patients, parents & staff of Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital & Regional Blood Center.
Initially 700 patients were registered at BVH, after starting of Regional Blood Center Bahawalpur in December 2017 the number started to increase and at the moment 2700 patients are now registered with the Thalassemia unit.
Due to not enough space on the floor, 4 to 5 patients have to share a single bed.
Before Regional Blood Center patients had to struggle a lot for blood and hospital blood bank was unable to provide them timely blood transfusions, Regional Blood Center since December has started to provide safe & screened blood to the thalassemia patients according to their need without any charges and without any donor.
On daily basis Regional Blood Center is providing 50+ blood pints and on Thursday they provide 100+ blood pints.
Among 2700 patients, 100 patients are getting iron chelation medicines from government on monthly basis. Government is providing them tablet Asunra.
We met 100+ patients on our visit, briefed them about how can they take better care of themselves, how they can maintain their hemoglobin and ferritin, about prevention, about FAiTh Patient Support Group, how can they spread awareness & how can they help themselves & thalassemia center regarding blood donations.
We distributed gifts and informative material among them. All the patients loved their gifts.
Bahawalpur, is a city located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Bahawalpur is the 11th largest city in Pakistan with an estimated population of 798,509 FAiTh team traveled for 835.4 km (12 hours) with climate 39-42 degree celsius to reach the destination.
We are thankful to our district coordinator Adil Shah & his team for the wonderful work they are doing in Bahawalpur & Uch Shareef for the welfare of thalassemia patients.
We are also thankful to BVH Thalassemia Unit staff for giving us chance to interact with patients & parents, for the arrangements & support.
Chand Raat Celebration was organized by FAiTh at FAiTh office Karachi on 4th June 2019
It was an event by thalassemia fellows for thalassemia fellows.
50+ fellows and their parents attended the event, had iftar, dinner, got Eid gifts, girls applied mehndi, it was a great get-together & a chance for fellows where they met, greet and discussed a lot of things, some parents met FAiTh President Ayesha Mehmood to discuss their children health issues.. Alhamdulillah it was a fun-filled day.
